(In case you've never seen a tee shirt:)
I take a piece of fabric and iron some wonder-under to the back.
Then I google the silhouette I want, print it, and sometimes have to finagle the size on my printer before cutting it out. Then I turn it over to the opposite side I will want as my finished product and trace it onto the backside of the fabric.
Trace the silhouette.
Then cut out your fabric shape and peel off the paper backing. Stick it on the shirt where you want it, and iron. Sometimes too much heat can discolor the fabric, but you need it to be thoroughly stuck together.
Then I sew around the edges and add finishing touches, like the whiskers. This was my first time using the zigzag stitch on the machine, and because I am new at that, it's very rough-looking. So try to imagine this looking very sleek and store-bought, ok?
Then I iron on a special backing to protect all the stitching, etc. [so you can wash and wash and not ruin your hard work].
And voila...only this is a 3T shirt on a 16 month old. Some day it will be purrrfect!
I might as well stop commenting on this blog now because I am already out of adjectives.

ReplyDeleteI love it! Me want some.
P.S. Can someone send me the cute penny icon (preferably with the html code because I'm an idiot) to put on the sidebar of my blog. I'm working on some stuff and almost ready to post! (Almost.)
ReplyDeleteSo--how's the maching working for ya? Turns out there is not one here in this home. I'm crying in my lingon drink. The T shirt is adorable. I need to post pics of the felt flower I made, now. When I have time.....
